About us

Kids on Screens is for parents who want screens to be one part of family life, not the whole of it. We cover two sides of the same job: setting up the phones, tablets, computers and consoles in your home, and making the time away from them easy.

What you will find here

  • Step-by-step guides to the screen time and parental control settings built into each device.
  • Help with the big decisions, like when to give a first phone and which one.
  • Straight answers on what paid parental control apps add, and when the free built-in tools are enough.
  • What popular apps and games allow, and which settings to change.
  • Printable routines, chore charts and activity cards for screen-free time.

How we stay accurate

Phone makers and app developers change their menus often. Each guide shows the date its steps were last checked, names the versions it covers, and links to the official help pages it relies on. You can read the full process onhow we research.

What we believe

There is no single right amount of screen time. Families differ, children differ, and a rule that works at 8 will not work at 14. We do not lecture. We explain the options clearly so you can choose what fits your family.
